The Heatons

Phoenix is FANTASTIC!!!

We are having a fantabulous time here at the Heaton condo!! :)

The majority of our time we relax in or around the condo.  We haven't made any really concrete plans as we had a busy crazy vacation last time we were down here.

Pool is great although not as warm at night as we would like.  It has been wonderful for cooling off after baking in the sun a bit!

Shopping has been quite productive.  Dan found his two pairs of skate shoes.  I got a great pair of fishing/golfing sandals with the toe cap, a great orange purse, and some Sketcher Shapeup Runners.

We have been to the big Mesa Swap Meet!! It was fantastic and we plan to go there once more before we leave.

Wet and Wild waterpark will probably be our biggest "plan". We head there on Saturday or Sunday as it is the only waterpark open this early (and only weekends).  Most of them open Memorial Day weekend.

Hit up China King yesterday for some Dim Sum.  It wasn't the best place for that at all.  Silver Dragon in Calgary still beats it hands down for the dim sum......and that awesome Edmonton one was great too; especially for the ginger beef!!

Joe's Crab Shack was supper last night.  I ventured into the slightly "unknown" and had the "Voodoo Queen" pot which had head-on shrimp, crab, and crawfish.  I have eaten crawfish before but not for a very long time.  I will probably leave them off my menu for a very long time again lol.

Those two places are the most we have eaten out besides Applebee's in Great Falls.

That's the beauty of having J&C's condo to stay at :) I am not without my hubby's wonderful culinary skills while on vacation :) I am the breakfast cook.....so we aren't eating out much.

Tomorrow is the long-awaited NFL draft!!! We are both very excited.  The NFL network has been on a lot while we are here.  BUT for the big day we will walk to the neighbourhood pub "Gallagher's" and watch the Bengals get their two great pick spots from good 'ol Carson Palmer (thanks for leaving!!)  Supper will be at Gallagher's.

All that's on the list of to-dos today is to go and check out South Mountain Park.  I had the need for at least a little bit of nature here as I have only seen birds and a scorpion!

No pics for now but will add later.  There won't be many as this is a trip we are saving for our memories.  You don't have to share every moment of your life if you don't want to ;)

Easter 2012!!

Easter is here again :) The Easter Bunny changed things up for us this year by leaving the kids clues from one egg to another.  They had to work together to figure out the locations of each clue which then all led to the precious candy basket.

Here are pictures of the whole process as well as their Easter eggs they colored yesterday.

More to come in a later post as there is still EGG-ROLLING to come!!! :D

Our Kitchen...

I decided last week to take on the enormous task of repainting our kitchen cabinets and walls!!! Oh boy oh boy what and undertaking!! LOL I can't say I regret it because I love the results thus far....I just feel like I can't get life back in order.

So I can't find the picture of before so you have to imagine the one with yellow walls....with white cabinets.

I'm back on here :)

What a crazy day of weather!!! this is what all of us get who thought winter was done...nearing the end of March....out like a lion right?

I made a big move to get off of Facebook in a week from today.

I am keeping to it too.  Here's to my first step towards real communication with my friends and family. Also, an end to constant gossiping.

So welcome all who followed me here to read this.

I see Posterous has been taken over by Twitter...maybe that's my next move!

FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL!

Its a memorable year! Drayden started Atom football in the Medicine Hat Tackle Football League.  He has grown so much when it comes to sports.  He has learned to value sports and has realised how important being there for the team is.  Hey there's even some fun for Camille in here!

Camille is so grown up!!

It would be hard to believe from these pictures that this little lady was SO shy!  She has come such a LONG way in a year of being in "school" all day.  Her day consists of morning Kindergarten and afternoon preschool (same as last year with Mrs. Moll).  She has become a leader to all of the kids in preschool and I'd imagine it is largley due to her great memory and strong conistency skills.  She now has added (thank goodness) being a Teacher to her list of future jobs.  I know a lot of little girls go through this stage but I believe she is a lot like her cousin Marquessa and so going down the "teacher" route seems to be a good decision!

Anyway, for now with my job situation I am blessed with being able to go to her classroom twice now and hang out on her Special Helper Days!  In these photos it was also Hawaiian Day. See that post for more details ;)

I am SO excited at the potential of this little beauty!! She has a huge heart and this will also be a great attribute if she keeps to her teacher goal :D

Mr. Funny Club at it again....

Dray decided he would purchase some funny teeth from Michaels.....and try to "fool" Oliver with them.

So we got Camille in on it too.....

It's Spring! (Please knock on wood!)

After what seemed like an eternal winter.....we may just be experiencing Spring!!

This winter would not have been so unbearable even with all the snow if Medicine Hat's SUNSHINE had actually shone a LOT more!  So once again we are awaiting and impending "flood". The kids and I took a walk from our house over to the closest coulee area to check out Ross Creek.  Although not nearly as bad as last year (yet) the snow also just quit and we havn't seen the forecasted runoff show up yet.

Either way this wonderful, sunny day called for a hike/walk of some kind.

We met another "Fuzzy" along the way...just a wee bit smaller than the caterpillar I brought home for the kids last year,  We decided collectively that this little guy should stay in his natural habitat.  We will find some other creature to "learn" from this year.  This wasn't going to be that army ant we saw either!

The kids also got a lesson in what their "quadriceps" and "hamstrings" are.  Going down and uphill a lot will let you know where those muscles are.  I feel its very important for them to learn as early as possible about all parts of their bodies and the role they play in them being able to be mobile.

Drayden wanted to get off the "beaten path" as soon as we could so we took off on a "deer trail" down close to the railroad tracks.  Camille has come such a long way....although wary still, she managed to climb down there with little assistance.  And Dray in true boy fashion took off and I had to yell to make sure he knew when to stop ;) :)

Overall they helped me get exercise (yet another plan in Jerri's Slave Labor Plans) and got some themselevs....another very important lesson for them to learn.  Not to focus on their weight but on how wonderful exercise and a good walk out in the fresh air can make you feel!

And boy did I feel HAPPY after :D

My Sarcastic Life

Img00364-20110403-0854
I was thinking the other day about this magnet on our fridge...
And how my husband and I are so much alike in the humour department....
If we weren't it wouldn't last and I believe this true for all couples.....
If you don't 'get' each others humour when can you ever laugh 'together'?
I found the following on a website and wanted to share it with everyone....
It just about sums up how I feel about our form of humour.......sarcasm

"Sarcasm usually requires a quick wit, and the ability to extract the
most minute points of weakness in a conversation. So it is quite
unlikely that it is the lowest form of humour as some would like to
call it. Perhaps not being able to enjoy sarcasm is directly related
to not having the ability to come up with sarcastic comments, which in
turn creates a feeling of inadequacy, which in turn can spawn a
Napoleon complex, that can cause someone to philosophise that sarcasm
is the humour of the stupid."

So in the future if you're around our family (including the kids)
we're probably joking about just about everything we can......what's
life without a lot of laughter?
